Exterior Colors
No later than two weeks after completing your sales order, you should select all of your home's exterior colors.

Plan Approval
Once your Sales Order has been signed by an officer of Virginia Homes, your plans will be started (unless you have a contingent contract or you have requested otherwise). As soon as your plans are completed, you will be contacted to schedule a review of your home. This usually occurs with 30 days.
After plan approval and the receipt of your 2nd deposit, we submit your plans for permits. This process can take two to eight weeks, depending on the community.

Construction
Depending on the number of changes, price requests, or contingencies, the beginning of the construction process is 60 to 90 days after Sales Order signing. Once your lot is staked, it will take approximately 160 days to build your new home. This depends greatly on the weather and the time of year.
The various steps your home will go through are referred to as: Foundation, Framing, Mechanicals, Insulation, Drywall, Trim, Paint, and Finish.

Site Visits
We realize that this is an exciting time for your family and you. We do encourage you to visit the building site either in person or online at http://www.virginia-homes.com, but we ask that you be extremely careful when on the construction site. Please do not take young children or elderly family members into your new home until it is safe to do so. Remember, there will be a number of people working at the site at any given time; we would hate for any accidents to happen.

Pre-Settlement
Within 30 days prior to completion of your home, you will be given an anticipated closing date. At this time, it's a good idea to contact your Loan Officer to determine the amount of funds needed for closing.

Walk Through
As your closing date approaches, a pre-closing walk through will be scheduled. The purpose is to identify the features of the home and demonstrate their function, use, and maintenance. Cosmetic problems are often identified at this time. Any items needing correction will be in writing; all due diligence will be made to correct them prior to closing. This is a very important step for your family, and we respectfully request that you refrain from inviting others to attend the walk through. Should you desire professional advice, please arrange to go through the house prior to the scheduled walk through time.

Closing
At the closing, different warranty information will be reviewed, and you will receive a file containing all information.
Please be sure to contact utility companies and have all services placed in your name. These must be changed by the Closing date to prevent the utilities from disconnecting service to your new home.

Moving In
It's time to move into your lovely new Virginia Home. You may notice a few things that require service. Sixty-five days after your closing, you can complete the form included in your closing package or online at http://www.virginia-homes.com. List all items, if any, that need attention and deliver it to our main office.
If an emergency arises, please call the appropriate number listed on the back page of your Homeowner's Manual.
